α2 is a planet somewhere in the Milky Way Galaxy.
History
The interstellar emigrant ship, Ozymandias was hit by intense cosmic radiation en route to this planet in 2248. With the crew dying, the ships' computer was instructed to use skin tissue to engineer new organisms, guaranteeing that life would make it to the planet one way or another. Unfortunately, the newly-developed organisms could not survive in the planet's environment, far more hostile than was predicted. Incapable of delivering its manifest to the planet, the ship was turned around back to Earth.
